Chillin’ in the corner…
Can’t wait to finish painting the house, beacuse I already have my next project mapped out in the yard. A little unused space that never sees the sun, nor have any green grass on it, will get a spruced up look. Our neighbor got rid of her old, solid wood, front door, which I am going to convert into a day bed, and it will stand on top of bricks that are currently hiding behind the garage. ‘Nough talking.. really need to get that house painted.
Inspiration for my next project:

Just Peachy
This is what I dream about doing to our house if we decide to stay here and not look for a new home later on in the future. Adding a second story to our 100 year old house.

And out it went…
Christmas that is. It is already January 29th and I forgot to post all the work it took me to get all the decorations back in the boxes, and with the help of the hubby the boxes went up on the top shelf in the closet and the tree went outside in the backyard. We cut it up into smaller pieces to use for our outside decorative fire pit, and what we couldn’t use went into the green trash can for garden waste.

Another way to do laundry
A laundry solution perhaps better for your clothes, the planet, and you
Wash full loads, using cold water when possible, line-dry whatever I can. Air-drying saves energy, and it seems to save my clothes: both in fabric form and color. I have heard and read comments about people not air-drying as it makes the clothes smell bad from the polluted air, but I have never noticed that in real life. Also, less usage of dryers gives less polluted air in the long run – Duh! As we love our washes and dryer we are not at all thinking about getting new more energy efficient appliances, at least not until they break down.
As our tree outside the house is covered in lemons I try to add Lemons to the Laundry as often as I can. The citric acids in lemons break down stains and helps keep clothes their brightest colors. Instead of using bleach on laundry, try a home-based blend. Not only does it get it get clean, it also smells terrific, and you know for sure that it is something natural your are smelling and not a chemical.
Add 1 cup lemon juice to the wash along with your usual detergent, or mix the lemon juice with water and pour in along with the detergent. Consider it a homemade alternative to bleach since it can clean both whites and colors. It smells a whole lot better than bleach, too.

I love that my husband had this house before I met him. A guy with his own house, to me that is attractive. Since I love renovations this house is perfect, even though it makes me sigh a lot sometimes. Like when it comes to plumbing, thin walls that make us hear everything the neighbors talk about, a very old water heater that needs replacement within the next year, and crooked floors covered up with wall-to-wall carpet. The house is turning 109 years old this year, and the heater (which is working great!) is just as old. We try to take a little bit at a time, as it every now and then seems like the house wants some gentle touches being a little bit fragile.
