Prince.. or Princess

… we are still in the unknown of what is inside that little baby bump showing on my belly. I would like to keep it a secret until fall when we have the baby in our hands. It is so much fun to go around and guess, and ask other people what they think, and read funny folklore about what the ‘olden days’ would have thought you are carrying. Like, “eating a lot of salt means you’re having a boy”, or “if you were very nauseous the first months you are having a girl”. In that case my baby will be half-half as I was super nauseous the first 2 months, but crave salt and can’t stand sweets or sodas.  This will sure be an interesting time. In one way I wish it would fo faster, but on the other hand I probably need the time to get used to be a parent. Only six more months to go.

To make it feel more real, we actually went to Ikea and got a crib. I might even start to move things around in the room to make space for it. I have it all planned out, and to make it clear: the room will neither have a pink or blue decor. the baby doesn’t know what the colors stand for anyway, plus I never had that and turned out fine :).

Instead of choosing a white finish on the crib we decided to go with more gray/brown, as that matches the rest of the furnitures in the house better.

This is the very same crib but in the right color (but somewhat cut off):

Can’t wait to see what ideas that pop into mu head over the next 6 months, regarding room decor etc, I just know that the room should in the future have a bean bag for the child (they are so much fun!), a basket filled with different books, a nicely colored bed sheets. We’ll see if that actually comes true or not, right now we are more focusing on my eating habits and gaining some weight after the nauseous period instead of thinking about any type of decoration. Plus names of course, but they will stay secret until the baby is born. :)

Things and Style

New month, new year, new hair. I now have bangs. Just to let the world now. Important stuff…

I would really like to make myself a top or sun-dress looking something like the girl’s top in the picture. Really loving the pattern of the fabric. My problem is that I usually get stuck when I am making the arms.

Another favorite of mine is this lovely dress:

Who knew that those to patterns of fabric would match? They looked almost too ‘busy’ together, but with the small flowers only on the hem of the dress it turned out great. So wish I could have enough time and energy to make the dress.

And how cute is this!

Vancouver, Canada

We had a wonderful time visiting family in Vancouver, Canada, and as this was the only two weeks of joined vacation we had this year, the husband and I went on a three-day road trip in each direction. Next time we’ve decided to fly as the cops on the way up through Oregon and Washington seem to think it is a sport to catch as many people on the freeway as possible.

Rhubarb Pie Dreams

Two days ago eight students were sent home from school with stomach flu, and yesterday I sent home two more with the same illness. Now I’m home with a stomach that isn’t really sick, but is acting a bit different from its usual self. We’ll see how this turns out, but I’m hoping for the best. As of now my stomach doesn’t want to eat anything that I (or my brain) want to dig into, like this:

Mmm… perhaps I’ll make a trip to the kitchen later.
